Landin Burton, CHS senior, has been awarded Student of the Month. Burton is the son of Patrick and Dayton Burton.
Dr. Matt Smith selected Burton for his outstanding performance as the Jester in Madrigal. “I thought he did a great job as the Jester. He had a ton of lines and was able to think on his feet, especially when interacting with the audience,” said Smith.
Leah Rolfson, director of CHS Madrigal, loved Burton’s performance as well. “Phenomenal. It was absolutely phenomenal. Couldn’t be more proud,” Rolfson stated about Burton.
Burton was mildly surprised at being honored as Student of the Month. “I didn’t expect my performance to affect the people in the community in such a positive way,” said Burton. This was Burton's first Student of the Month award.
Music has been a part of Burton’s life for a long time. He is currently in chamber choir and orchestra. Burton has been a part of chamber choir since his junior year of high school and loves to be included in the close knit feeling he gets from being in choir. “My favorite thing about high school is the feeling of community, because of this we are able to form deep connections with each other,” Burton stated.
After high school Burton plans to attend Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood for the Army National Guard to become a Combat Engineer. After his training Burton will enroll in a post secondary institution to further his education.
