May Student of the Month: Susanna Nix

The Centralia High School May Student of the Month selected by Dr. Andrew Darr is Susanna Nix.

Susanna is a very involved student at Centralia High School and is always putting in the extra work to excel in all of these activities. Nix is involved in National Honor Society(NHS), Future Business Leaders of America(FBLA), Drama Club, Band, SKRUBs, Beta Chi Pi, International Thespian Society, Earth Club and Quiz Bowl. In addition to being involved in these activities, Nix is also an officer or leading member in many of these activities.

Darr shared, “She led Quiz Bowl to the highest placed ranking in nationals in Centralia history. She also does everything with excellence and leads by example, and is often willing to support those around her if they ask, like my American Lit class of juniors, despite her truly remarkable workload.” 

Susanna, Quiz Bowl Captain, and her team came through with a eighth place team finish in their NAQT Small School National Tournament in Chicago at the end of April. When asked about her trip, Nix said, “I am so grateful that I got to experience this, and I am proud of my team. All of the hard work that we put in paid off.” 

If you see Susanna, make sure to wish her luck in her studies at Washington University in St. Louis where she plans to study Environmental Engineering.
