Dr. Matt Smith recognized Taylor Carrico, Centralia High School senior, as January Student of the Month.
She is the daughter of Shawn and Cassie Carrico, and has two siblings, Katie and Charlie. Cathy Colston, CHS secretary, nominated Carrico for this award. Carrico became an office aid for the first semester of the school year. Dr. Smith said, “She was outstanding. Kind, hard working, highly capable and reliable. We have missed her greatly here in the office.”
While Carrico was an office aid, she enjoyed many aspects such as interactions with people around the school. “I was able to talk to a lot of people that I wouldn't have otherwise got to talk to,” Carrico said.
Carrico highly enjoys science-related classes, her favorite being chemistry and biology. Carrico stated, “Science has always been something I have loved as I like learning how things work, and I love doing experiments.”
She is involved in numerous clubs and activities, such as Beta Chi Pi, SKRUBS, Key Club, National Honor Society, Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Cross Country and Track.
Her future plans include attending the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg to acquire a nursing degree. Carrico then hopes to continue her education and become a Nurse Practitioner.
