By: Cameron Barnett, Contributing Writer Second Saturday is an event held the second Saturday of every month in downtown Centralia. The event is for local and nearby vendors to sell art, crafts, food and more. Second Saturday also features many food trucks, music and live entertainment.
Entrepreneur Row at Second Saturday is free of charge for individuals under 18 and is sponsored by the Centralia Chamber of Commerce. Entrepreneur Row provides young entrepreneurs with a free space to sell their products. This opportunity gives the entrepreneurs visibility and an opportunity to get their business name out to the public. Some student entrepreneurs from Centralia Public Schools who participate in Second Saturday are: Natalie Calhoon, Brianna Gibbons, Anthony Gibbons, Jesiah Baker, Chezney Baker, Josie Hicks and Olivia Morris. Natalie Calhoon, freshman at Centralia High School (CHS), sells Pawsome Pet Portraits. The Smart Program helped her start the business and create what she is now selling. Calhoon explained, “People buy our bandanas, I take pictures of their pet wearing the bandana and we frame the picture for them.” Another young entrepreneur from CHS that participates in Entrepreneur Row is freshman, Chezney Baker. Baker sells baked goods and sweets. “Small Town Sweets is so far only a two person business, my sister and I. Jesiah sells macaroons and I sell cupcakes. We sell certain flavors of our products depending on the season. That way we have more than just a few flavors so everyone has something they would enjoy to eat,” Baker explained. Next time you’re at Entrepreneur Row make sure to stop by and support the Centralia student vendors. Comments are closed.
