One of the newest faces at Centralia High School for the 2022-23 school year, is Mrs. Kasey Ellis.
Ellis is the new Career Advisor, a position which was created through the rootEd Alliance Grant.

Some of Ellis’ responsibilities as Career Advisor are to make sure seniors have a plan after graduation from high school. Ellis conducts interviews with seniors to determine their future interests after high school. Follow up interviews will also take place with students to check progress achieved toward meeting their goals. College and workforce materials are also provided as needed depending on student interest.

Ellis has really enjoyed her new role at CHS as well as her colleagues.  “Mrs. Dimmitt and Mrs. Dickerson are absolutely excellent at their jobs and they have been so welcoming, patient and all around fun to work with every day. I am so blessed to get to be a rookie on their veteran team!”

Not only will Ellis be the Career Advisor, she will also coach JV girls basketball. “I coached the JV girls basketball team this summer and it has been fun to watch the basketball girls play their fall sports and get to know more students in that process. I am excited to get to know the students at Centralia,” stated Ellis.

Ellis obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Business Education from Westminster College. She then earned a Master's degree from William Woods University in Business Administration.

The short term goal Ellis has set for herself is to know all the seniors' names. Two weeks into the school year Ellis knew about half of the seniors’ names, and hopes to know all senior names by the end of September. Ellis’ long term goal is to set up all seniors to graduate with a post-secondary plan in place.
