Decision Day is where all the seniors announce what they will be doing after they graduate. Whether that is going to a college, going straight to work, or taking a gap year. Mrs. Kasey Ellis, Career Advisor at CHS has been in charge of Decision Day for the past two years. Ellis was able to get almost all the colleges seniors had committed to, to come to the school so the seniors could sign a certificate of intent. Ellis commented, “It is also an opportunity for the underclassmen to get exposure to different options after graduation including workforce, apprenticeships, military and college.” The underclassmen also got a bingo sheet to fill out while learning about each of the colleges. The bingo sheet was a way to keep their attention and help them learn more about opportunities available to them.
During the time the underclassmen were learning about future opportunities and listening to some former CHS graduated students, the seniors got the chance to play games and win some prizes, and over all just take some time to have fun and relax. Ellis stated, “My favorite part is the senior reception in the cafeteria where the seniors get to relax for the last hour of the day, play fun games and win prizes.” The students compete in games to win a series of prizes. Some of the prizes included a : coffee maker, laundry backpack, bluetooth speaker, food gift cards and much more. The students got to just take some time and have fun as their end of the school year comes to a close. Mrs. Ellis will be hosting Decision Day, for the seniors next year. They will be making big decisions about their future and hopefully it will be easier now with more knowledge of what the future could hold for them. Comments are closed.
