By: Suzee Crabtree, Contributing Writer Mr. Jeff Jones, a social studies teacher, is a new addition to Centralia High School for the 2021-2022 school year. Jones has a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. He went to University of Central Missouri (UCM) and University of Missouri.
Before starting his teaching in Centralia, Jones taught and coached in Boonville, La Monte, and Moberly. Jones teaches Government, AP American History, and AP Government. He enjoys teaching these classes that have always interested him. “There is no such thing as a perfect government, but the Founders of the American government system took a risk to try and make one work that gave citizens rights and protected people from oppression,” Jones said. He has always been fascinated by the past struggles of our country. He appreciates the discussion that comes from teaching government, and how it relates to high school students. The district’s great reputation had a heavy influence on bringing him to Centralia. He was also convinced by his wife, Mrs. Megan Jones, who teaches at CBMS. They have been married for eight years. “She loves my jokes and thinks that I am the funniest person alive. I believe that she is the best person I know,” Jones said. In his free time, Jones likes to travel, fish, camp, and cook. He also enjoys watching baseball, as a Royals fan. Jones says his time in Centralia has been “amazing”, and he is excited to further get to know the people here. Comments are closed.
