Lock and load, Centralia High School! CHS Game Club is gearing up to host its first ever “Lazer Tag” event, promising an evening filled with fun, friendship and fierce competition.
Set to take place on March 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium, this event is not one to miss. With teams of two to four players of all ages and an entry fee of just $8 per team, it's an affordable and action-packed way to spend an evening with friends. Or, if you want to spectate, watching the event is free of charge.

Within the event, the gymnasium will be turned into a battleground. There will be four different rounds in the event, such as capture the flag, team deathmatch, team deathmatch doubles and finally a free-for-all round with up to eight players.

Mrs. Anita Lumley, a CHS language arts teacher and the advisor for Game Club, was asked why she chose to do the “Lazer Tag” event. To put it simply, “Because it's fun,” she says, “and it encourages students to participate in school activities and fosters cooperation.” Lumley also thinks that this is important for students so she can introduce them to proper sportsmanship and social interaction between their peers.

Let's not forget about the bigger picture. Lumley reveals that Game Club has big plans for the future. “Our end goal is to raise money for future events for our members and to establish a presence at the school as a legitimate club,” she says. She also hopes that with the start of this event, it will bring other Esports to CHS. “I do hope that the laser tag event will bring in some more publicity to the club,” says junior Oliver Fox, a member of Game Club.

If you or a friend are interested in participating in this event or want more information, you can contact Mrs. Anita Lumley at [email protected]. You can also receive more information about Game Club from her if you are interested in joining!

So grab your friends, lace up your sneakers and get ready to unleash your inner warrior. Game Club's “Lazer Tag” event is about to take Centralia High by storm– and you will not want to miss out!
