By: Kylee Smith, Contributing Writer On April 28, 2022 Centralia High School (CHS) FFA hosted Decision Day for seniors. The Decision Day idea came from the NCAA National Signing Day. The goal for CHS decision day is to recognize all seniors whether they are going to college, into the workforce or the Military.
FFA and the counseling staff presented the idea for decision day to the administration in 2018. This year the FFA chapter and advisors organized and hosted the event. When planning for decision day the first order of business is to find a good date to hold the event. All seniors are then asked to answer a decision day form stating their plans after high school. FFA organizes a speaker, certificates, initial setup and contacts parents about decision day. This year coach, Tyler Forsee gave a short motivational speech to the seniors as well as other students in attendance. “I thought Decision Day was run well by the FFA officers and advisors. I appreciated them taking the time to recognize me and my peers as we get ready for our future,” said Griffin Anderson, CHS senior. FFA chapter officers helped ensure the event ran smoothly by releasing students from their rows to the podium when it was their turn. Additional chapter officers, Lauren Lafferty and Bethany Rhoades were the emcees of the event. There have been many variations of Decision Day since 2018, but faculty and staff feel this year's format works the best for CHS. Comments are closed.
