By: Bannon Moran, Contributing Writer The Centralia FFA Chapter attended FFA State Convention at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Missouri last week. Four teams made it to the state contest: Livestock, Ag mechanics, Ag sales and Ag Issues. The Ag Issues team placed 2nd, Ag Sales placed 8th, Livestock placed 9th and Ag Mechanics placed 12th. The Centralia FFA chapter was also named 3rd best chapter in the state, which is a wonderful accomplishment.
This year was Senior, Claire Bennetts second time going to State Convention. Bennett said, “It was really different this year because there were more people that were allowed to attend because they did not have any covid restrictions.” Another senior, Rachel Haskell, mentioned she is sad this was her last State Convention and is going to miss all the memories the chapter made and how they have become a family. Another major highlight for Centralia FFA is Senior, Annamarie Stone earning the title of State Officer. Stone is excited and ready to take on this next opportunity in her life. Overall, Centralia FFA has accomplished a lot this year and the students could not be more proud of themselves. The chapter also took 15 non competing members to experience the event. The goal in bringing younger members to Convention is to increase their exposure, which in turn will prepare them for their time to compete. Comments are closed.
