By: Anna Million, Contributing Writer Kynide McCubbin, Centralia High School senior, does her FLEX internship at Hometown Nutrition. Hometown Nutrition, a local business in its first year, serves a variety of shakes and teas that are the healthier option of treats we love.
When asked what she does for Hometown Nutrition, McCubbin says, “I am an intern at Hometown Nutrition and I help with small tasks that make the ‘rush hours’ easier for them.” Some of the tasks McCubbin helps with are putting the stickers on cups, restocking inventory and cleaning equipment. The FLEX program is meant to help students reach out and receive job experience. This experience is meant to prepare students for their future careers. When asked how working at Hometown Nutrition prepared her for the future, McCubbin said, “The customer service aspect helps me because I am going to be a cosmetologist and having good customer service is a must.” McCubbin believes being able to FLEX at Hometown Nutrition is not just about the experience she gains, but about being able to have fun. McCubbin says that some of her favorite things about working at Hometown Nutrition are, “Getting to interact with new people and getting to try new teas.” Aside from the experience and fun, McCubbin also says that she has, “trouble sitting still at a desk all day so FLEX was the perfect opportunity.” Comments are closed.
