By: Abby Ridgel, Contributing Writer Mckenzi Mathews, senior at Centralia High School (CHS), recently started working at Bluebird Bistro in Centralia, MO. Bluebird Bistro is a new restaurant in Centralia that serves a variety of different sandwiches and salads. Patrons can expect to see new menu items on a quarterly basis. You will also see the monthly change of specials, side dishes and desserts.
Mathews works after school during her flex block and said she clocks in about 15-20 hours a week. When Mathews is working, she is mostly up front as cashier. In addition to being a cashier, Mathews helps make food when the restaurant is experiencing a rush. For a first-timer at the Bluebird Bistro, Mathews would recommend a “Magoo” or a Chicken Bacon Ranch Club. Of all the things Mathews likes about her job, it's the people she enjoys the most. “The people there are so amazing and seem to actually care and make me feel safe. My employers are all great and I like the people I work with,” said Mathews. There are six former and six current CHS students working at Bluebird Bistro, so you are likely to see a familiar face at your next visit. Comments are closed.
