By: Abby Ridgel, Contributing Writer Jaelyn Vega, senior at Centralia High School (CHS), currently works at a local in-home daycare consisting of six children ranging from 0-5 years old. Vega works during her Flex block and after school. She usually clocks in around 9-12 hours per week. Vega works as a part-time child care provider and does a variety of things at her job. She assists in potty training, distributing snacks and playing games and activities. Vega chose this job because she thought it would prepare her for having her own kids and it would be fun and challenging. Of all the things about her job, Vega said, “My favorite thing is making the little kids laugh.” This job experience has taught Vega a lot. “You have to learn to have patience, especially with the young kids who are still learning how to follow directions,” said Vega. After high school, Vega plans to go to Mizzou and major in Health Science Rehabilitation. She then hopes to go to grad school and become a chiropractor. Comments are closed.
