3/2/2022

By: Brandon Chick, Contributing Writer
Centralia Intermediate School (CIS) has had a recent spring in inventions.
The 5th graders at CIS made inventions for a Shark Tank project. During the event, the students of the 5th grade class thought of an invention and pitched it to try and win over the judges. This year the event happened in February.

The event has been around for eight years and was created by the librarian and the fifth grade writing teacher. It started as a project and presentation. It is now a writing project, design and engineering project, slide show presentation and research is involved.

The school this year had a total of 44 groups of students to create a project and out of those 44 groups only four of them placed in the top three.

In third place, there was the CO Car Filter invented by Brett Cook and Roman Frantz. In second place, there was The Condiment Craver created by Jayden Bargar and Gannon Belshe. Finally, for first place there was a tie between The Soft Vault by Zoey Good. She tied with The Deaf Glasses by Brennan Collier, Emmett Auck and Bentley Mosser.
