By: Suzee Crabtree, contributing writer Dr. Matt Smith, Centralia High School (CHS) principal, awarded Mrs. Anita Lumley with the April Arrangement of the month. Dr. Smith admires Lumley’s ability to keep a positive outlook, no matter what obstacles she encounters outside of the classroom. “She is always such a cheerful and positive person, even during the most challenging and stressful times. That daily joy translates to what a positive classroom atmosphere she creates. I am very appreciative of her high energy and warm, joyful attitude in all that she does here at CHS,” Dr. Smith said.
This is Lumley’s first year teaching Language Arts courses at CHS. She enjoys all of the classes for the discussions, activities and games that take place in the classroom. Before coming to CHS, Lumley student taught at Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri. Lumley adores the comfort that Centralia provides. “The size of the school and classes creates a closeness that feels welcoming and friendly,” Lumley said. Lumley feels pleasantly surprised and highly appreciative about receiving this award. “It’s an incredible honor to have been chosen and I would like to thank those that thought me deserving,” Lumley said.
