"Remember the five D's of dodgeball: dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge!"
Centralia High School (CHS) SKRUBS hosted their seventh annual dodgeball tournament on April 14. The much anticipated tournament transformed the gym into a battlefield. Teams of students and sometimes even faculty signed up to compete for the ultimate title of dodgeball champions.

This year there were seven teams signed up to compete. The Game is played like regular dodgeball rules. If you get hit you are out. If you catch a ball being thrown by the opposing team, a teammate of yours gets to come back in. If you win you get moved up to play the next round. GuangDong Tigers were the champions for the 2025 dodgeball tournament fundraiser.

Every year SKRUBS uses the money paid by teams as an entry fee, and donates it to an organization.  This year the money was collected and sent to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital. SKRUBS chose St. Judes as the whole idea was so that kids can help kids. “We send what we raise and then some to reach a $400 minimum donation to St. Judes. We have been doing this for over 15 years,” said Mrs. Tonya Schmidt, SKRUBS advisor.

Whether you are in it to win or just there for the good times, the tournament is a highlight of the school year. Beyond the fun and games, the dodgeball tournament is a celebration of school spirit and community. It brings students together from all grades, gives everyone a chance to let loose, and reminds us that sometimes the best memories come from a little friendly competition.
