By Adyson Rackley, Contributing Writer A warming display of affection is going to be given to the Centralia nursing homes. Centralia High School (CHS) Key Club members are handcrafting blankets to be distributed to Heritage Hall, The Stuart House and the Centralia Police Department. This initiative will surely keep residents cozy, joyful and spirited.
The blankets are going to be fleece tie throws. The blanket production started at the beginning of October with all 21 members of Key Club making two to three blankets each. The projects will come in a variety of colors and patterns to ensure each fleece has a special significance. Key Club decided that this project would be the most beneficial during this season because everybody should be able to warm up when a chilly day appears. Key Club hopes to get the throws distributed during Thanksgiving and Christmas for residents of the nursing homes to get heartfelt gifts. “The most rewarding experience in Key Club is when we finish a big project like the blankets and give them away to very grateful families in need. It makes all of the Key Club members feel fulfilled,” stated officer Elizabeth Romine. Another officer, Kayne Walters said, “Helping people has always had a place in my heart and will always, so I chose to be in Key Club to help the community more.” Key Club has more community service activities planned for their club. They are going to have a sock drive, Angel Tree gifts and Cards for Kindness. Comments are closed.
