By: Olivia Morris, Contributing Writer Anatomy students at Centralia High School (CHS) were given the rare chance to witness the human body like never before. For the first time ever, the anatomy class traveled to Truman State University on Feb. 24 to get an inside scoop on human anatomy. This immersive experience, let the students leave with an unforgettable memory as students gained real-world experiences with the human body.
Upon their arrival, CHS’s anatomy classes were split into two groups. The first group experienced the virtual anatomy table where they got to explore different bones, muscles and organs. The second group got to experience what some may say was the highlight of this field trip. The highlight was to visit Truman State’s human cadaver lab, where they got to explore different parts of the body in real life. Science teacher Mrs. Kayla Fadler said, “My favorite part was seeing my students so interested and engaged with the content in a way I can’t provide them in class.” This field trip had a lasting impact on students, especially those looking into careers in the medical field. By witnessing real human anatomy up close, students got a deeper understanding of the human body, something that their textbooks could not provide. Many left the experience feeling more confident in their abilities and future careers. Senior Natalie Mistowski stated, “This field trip felt like an eye opener. I would consider using cadavers and donating organs for scientific research as a career choice.” The trip to Truman State University was not only an educational experience but also an inspiring one. This was a rare chance to connect classroom learning and real-world application. This field trip has set a new standard for hands-on learning at CHS and gives students a new trip to look forward to in upcoming years. Comments are closed.
