Excitement is in the air as the Centralia High School (CHS) cheerleading team has a season to remember. September was their month to shine.
From performing at the St. Louis Cardinals game on September 11, to the big first place win at regional competition in Kansas City on September 29. Head cheer coach Rebekkah Kropf and assistant coaches Brittany Kline and Krista Morgan have provided assistance and guidance to ensure the team’s success.

Broadening what CHS cheer does, Kropf felt as if the team needed an event to showcase their skills. “I love when our girls get to experience something new, and this seemed like a great chance for that,” said Kropf. Kropf has been CHS cheer coach for 18 years. On September 11, 19 varsity and 15 junior varsity cheerleaders went to the St. Louis Cardinals game and performed a choreographed routine behind Busch Stadium. Not only was it an opportunity CHS has never had before, it was an exciting chance for hundreds of people to see Centralia’s very own cheer team in action.

Following their trip to St. Louis, they then attended regionals at Liberty High School on September 29, bringing home a first place trophy. With months of hardwork and dedication starting in mid June, this was CHS cheer’s first place win in regionals since 2016. Morgan Dimmitt, a senior on the team expresses her feelings about their win. “It was so fulfilling. It felt so great considering working so hard as a team from my sophomore year to my senior year to get to the great team we are now. I feel like it also made the rest of our school and community notice us and are starting to appreciate what we do as a team,” said Dimmitt.

These remarkable moments are what shape the team through their entire season. With their eyes set on state competition on November 2, the squad is more motivated than ever to continue pushing boundaries and making their mark, in hopes to bring home the state title.
