By: Olivia Morris, Contributing Writer From canes and suspenders to glasses and gray wigs, Chance Elementary School (CES) halls were filled with tiny grandparents to celebrate the 100th day of school. Teachers and other staff members came together on Feb. 3 to make the 100th day celebration special. Along with dressing up, the day was filled with fun crafts and activities that go along with the day’s theme.
This fun celebration has been making memories for both students and teachers for over a decade. All students at CES, including pre-school, indulge in creative learning activities all crafted around the number 100. “Usually the lessons revolve around the number 100. This lends itself more to mathematics, but the activities evolve from a preschool/kindergarten student to a second grade student. Younger students are working to understand the concept of 100, what that means as a quantity. Older students can dive into higher concepts since they have more background knowledge with the number,” explains Principal Dr. Tiffany Shuman. The 100th day of school marked not just an exciting celebration, but a reflection of how much these students have learned and accomplished since the start of the school year. The students are now looking ahead to finish the school year with just about 100 days left, but the memories made during this special day will stay with them for years to come. Comments are closed.
