Centralia High School(CHS) Art Club is making a vibrant return back to the studio.
The revamped club is flourishing with aspiring artists and exciting projects. Anticipation is buzzing in the air for the seasoned creators and curious newcomers.

Art Club’s 26 member team meets twice a month and each time they recap information from the last meeting. They also discuss upcoming events and projects. The informative section of the meeting does not last the whole time, the students also create or continue working on creative projects. Events and fundraisers are decided through majority vote.

A familiar event is being brought back to CHS, Panther Paint Night. A large wooden panther paw print is the decided canvas for each attendee of the community to paint. The date has not been finalized for Panther Paint Night but the cost is $40 per person. Art Club President, Olivia Morris stated, “They used to do this a long time ago and I’m excited to bring it back!”

Last year, Art Club was reintroduced during the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year. They helped create various projects such as the spring musical mural and the painted windows at the public library. The creativity did not stop there, the past club also did paper weaving, rock painting and t-shirt design.

“It means a lot to me. I get to express myself and get something to look forward to,” is what Art Club Vice President, Mady Calhoon replied when asked what Art Club means to her. Members of Art Club collectively agree that their club is more than just creating art, it also creates new friendships. “I love how Art Club allows me to talk and interact with students I may not normally talk to,” stated Morris.

Mrs. Janet Neufeld, art instructor and Art Club’s sponsor, feels that this club brings the students involved closer together through their common love for art. “We enjoy making the world a beautiful place!” voiced Neufeld.
